Solana Productions’ San Diego video production group recently shot an important new video for WomanCare Global, a high-profile, non-profit women’s reproductive health organization receiving support from actress Jessica Biel and and other celebrities.
The new video campaign is called, “No Topic is Off-Limits. If You Won’t Tell Them, Who Will?” and features WomanCare Global founder and CEO Saundra Pelletier encouraging women to educate themselves about their bodies. The campaign is aimed at dispelling myths, correcting assumptions and sparking honest discussions about women’s reproductive topics, such as contraception and puberty.
Featured on the WomanCare Global website and YouTube channel, the San Diego video production shot by Solana Productions received nearly 40,000 views in its first two weeks of being posted. As part of the campaign, Pelletier and Biel have also launched a humorous new online series on the comedic website Funny or Die in which Biel and actresses Whitney Cummings and Joy Bryant discuss discuss condom disasters, birth control pills and female anatomy.
Biel and Pelletier appeared on ABC’s “Good Morning America” to promote the women’s reproductive health campaign, which launched Sept. 28. Biel, who is married to Justin Timberlake, gave birth to their first child, son Silas, in April of 2015. The 33-year-old actress has been quoted as saying she lacked knowledge about her own reproductive health while growing up and later raised those concerns to her friend Pelletier.

When Caitlyn Jenner made a surprise appearance at the Del Mar Racetrack one day after delivering her powerful speech at the ESPY Awards, our San Diego TV camera crew jumped into action to get the story.
Our San Diego producer interviewed Del Mar Racetrack President and CEO Joe Harper, who had escorted Jenner around the iconic horse-racing track on opening day. Our video crew also shot footage retracing their steps. It was Jenner’s second major public appearance since announcing her much-publicized gender transition from male to female. Harper said in the interview that Caitlyn’s representatives reached out to him personally because Jenner was interested in attending her first opening day at Del Mar. The racetrack president admitted he wasn’t sure how attendees would react to Caitlyn, but said the crowd was warm, supportive and enthusiastic. Harper also revealed that Jenner bet on several horse races, even picking a winner in the 7th race. During Caitlyn’s visit, she was followed by a camera crew from her new E! reality series, “I Am Cait.” Opening day at Del Mar is also a major Southern California fashion event, with women decked out in designer dresses, accessories and ornate hats. The fashion world took note of Caitlyn’s choice of a red-and-white print wrap-style dress by Diane von Furstenberg, paired with a matching sun hat. Our San Diego video production team shot all the newsmaking A-list interviews for “Entertainment Tonight;” rolled on every star appearance for Warner Bros. Studios, our veteran video team spent two days before Comic-Con installing two complex wireless video systems at their prominent and impressive exhibit hall booth. During the convention, our tireless camera crews rolled continuously during dozens of star appearances, including those by “Batman vs. Superman” stars Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill; the “Game of Thrones” cast; and, the new CBS-TV “Supergirl,” Melissa Benoist. Our crews’ footage was simultaneously beamed onto 6 big-screen TVs above the Warner Bros. booth for thousands of fans to watch inside the exhibit hall. This shoot captured managers and employees demonstrating effective communication through role playing. With their world-wide reach, ResMed needed videos in several languages. Solana Productions translated and subtitled the videos into Chinese, French and German.
The medical video production involved three digital cinema cameras, extensive lighting, makeup and was shot at ResMed’s headquarters in San Diego.

It’s tax time right now, and while that may bring visions of dread for many, it’s cause for celebration for our corporate video camera crew.
That’s because we just wrapped a successful and important San Diego corporate video for a client that provides key technical support for Intuit’s TurboTax software package. TurboTax, developed in the 80s by Chipsoft of San Diego and acquired by Intuit Corporation in 1993, is one of the most popular income tax preparation software packages in the country. The Intuit Consumer Tax Group is still based in San Diego, and our shoot took place at their beautiful campus in the Carmel Valley area. Our San Diego video crew skillfully lit and shot a testimonial interview with one of Intuit’s top engineers, then scoured the campus to record scenic establishing shots. A “taxing” day for sure, but that’s just the way we like it!

Our recent San Diego convention video production at the 2014 NexGen Cloud Conference & Expo http://www.nexgencloudcon.com/ is a prime example of how we’re helping clients effectively communicate their messages. Attended by more than 2,000 professionals, this San Diego Convention Center event brought together industry leaders, solution providers and vendor executives to discuss how cloud computing is changing the way companies do business. 
The conference also aims to help companies capitalize on the opportunity to increase their business. Our mission was to document the 2014 conference in order to help our client promote attendance at their 2015 event, which will also be held at the convention center. First, our San Diego video production producer worked closely with the client to create a clear and effective storyline for the video. Then, over two days, our producer and San Diego camera crews shot with the client’s on-camera spokesperson and captured footage and interviews at various sessions, meetings, educational events and informal gatherings. A woman’s wish for help for a struggling San Diego military family came true right before our eyes as part of our San Diego camera crews shooting for NBC’s “The Meredith Vieira Show.” It all unfolded during a two-day San Diego video shoot that began on the Mission Beach Boardwalk. That’s where our seven-person production team built Meredith’s pop-up wish booth, installed two cameras inside, and stationed our San Diego video crew outside to interview people who stopped by to make wishes. One woman, a local social worker, asked for assistance for a Marine family having trouble coping financially as a result of the dad’s PTSD diagnosis and forced retirement. The family fell $20.000 in debt as a result of traveling to visit the dad during his hospital recovery at a hospital 150 miles from their home. The morning after the beach shoot, our San Diego video production team swooped into action to shoot a background piece on the unsuspecting family — interviewing the mom, dad and three kids at their home for what they thought was a story about struggling military families in general. A few days later, the still-unsuspecting family was flown to New York to appear live with Vieira on the show, where our background piece was played and they were introduced. Afterward, Vieira surprised them with a check for $20.000 from Ball Park Franks, along with $10.000 in merchandise from Boxed.com. Needless to say, sometimes wishes do come true!
