Video Production Awards

Awards at Solana ProductionsA magazine show feature on children with Autism was chosen for a national Gracie Award. The story, shot by Solana Productions, focused on dads trying to solve the mystery of their son's illness.

Banding together, they raised enough funding and enough consciousness to become the "founding fathers" of a unique facility -- the M.I.N.D. Institute at U.C. Davis Medical Center near Sacramento -- a Manhattan Project for autism research and treatment.

Solana Productions Northwest

Seattle Video Productions by Solana Productions Northwest

Solana Productions Northwest is on the Case

Solana Productions NW was hired by Medstar television to shoot a show called Forensic Files. Solana traveled to Spokane, Washington and then Boise and Sun Valley, Idaho. The story was about a sixteen year old girl who murdered both of her parents just outside of Sun Valley in their home. It was of interest because this was the first time since Lizzy Borden that a young teenage girl killed both of her parents. The shoot lasted seven days and should hit the air early 2008.

Going to "Extremes"

Solana Productions NW was called to shoot for "Extreme Home Makeover" using their camera package which consisted of the Sony XD disk format camera. The shoot location was in Kirkland, Washington and lasted a week. The day I shot there it was a complete downpour of rain. Mud was everywhere and they were concerned about the moisture content of the newly framed home. Solana was only booked for one day on location for the show so I then booked out the rest of the week on other projects.

On the Fox beat....

Solana was called by Fox News Channel out of New York to shoot for two days on a documentary about the Reverend Billy Grahams legacy. Billy's son Franklin was preaching at the Tacoma Dome and they wanted footage of the festival and to do an interview. Correspondent Lauren Green and her producer Clayton Rawson flew out to perform the interviews and of course, I took them to the best restaurants in town. Solana was then called by the Fox News Bureau in Seattle to fill in for their vacationing cameraman for a week. On Friday afternoon I was driving home at the end of the week and my phone rang. It was Fox News out of New York calling to book me for the next two days for the Bill O' Reilly Show. We did a stakeout for the publisher of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer newspaper. We sat in my Cadillac SRX for two full days until he came home. When he pulled into his driveway we were up and out the door with cameras rolling and walked up to him for his comments. He declined and told the producer to leave his property. The producer was happy to get what he did and considered it a success. He also mentioned to me that my car was the best production vehicle he has ever been in during a stakeout. I shot a whopping 1:15 seconds of footage and :30 of that being bars and tone. The story aired the next day.
